Larry Baer’s interest in sports has only deepened and expanded. The Giants CEO leads a large team of professionals to provide leadership and direction to the Giants and MLB, including staff attorneys, financial advisers, compliance officers, marketers, community relations directors, communications professionals and video production professionals. His responsibilities include the fiscal management of the club and its major business and baseball transactions.
Under Baer’s leadership, the San Francisco Giants have developed into a unique, family-oriented and world-class organization. “Since I came to San Francisco as an intern, I’ve seen the Giants be the flagship franchise for the game of baseball in the Bay Area and I’m honored to lead a terrific group of professionals working together to win again,” said Larry Baer.
The chief operating officer, chief financial officer, and treasurer since 1988, Baer’s responsibilities include financial analysis and reporting, budgeting, financial reporting, and administration of the club. As head of the Giants’ baseball operations in the late 1990s, Larry Baer developed a strategy of winning multiple championships. The team won a third World Series in 2010, a second in ’12, and a third in ’14.
In the past 25 years, Larry has helped shape the culture of the San Francisco Giants in significant ways. In 1992, SF Giants CEO served on the Giants’ original ownership group, which was comprised of his father Phil and other investors. Larry Baer’s previous positions at the Giants include:

After negotiating a deal to purchase the Giants from the owners of the team at the time, the future of baseball in San Francisco changed forever. Baer, Giants CEO has overseen the sale of the club and the “purchase” of the area’s two minor league baseball teams and has hired hundreds of employees in his more than 25 years with the Giants.
